Origin of Name FRISEY
FRIZET is well informed in
the Frizéi form in 1152, of Plank in 1184, Frisey or Frizet in 1288.
This word would undoubtedly come from the name of old a
Gallo-romain (Frisius).
Church
St Antoine
The current church of St-Marc was
inaugurated on November 1, 1900. It inherited a part of furniture
of the old church of Frizet. It was built on a ground given
by the lords of the manor of St-Marc.Dans the area of Namur,
St-Antoine (called as a Walloon: St-Antwînne with the pourcia) is
honoured like owner with the butchers, the porkbutchers and the
"bans' lîs" (basket makers).
Church
of Frizet
These ruins are those of an old parish
church, abandoned since 1900, in consequence of the construction
of the church St Antoine. The ruins are those of the church built
in XVIème century, but the origin of the parish goes up following
documents into 839.The church
of FrizeT was abandoned with the bad weather
and... close in material search. This plundering of stones, beams
and slates lasted until the Commission of the Monuments and Sites
decides of its classification in 1924.
Origins
and restoration Vault St-Rock
In
edge of the way towards Saint-Servais is the vault St-Roch, small
building of plan square, built out of limestone hardcores by the
priest of the parish and gone back to 1826. Its frontage is out
of stone of size and the pediment carries the inscription "Venerabili
Sacramento vovit Eique Libens Dicat". This vault was a station-resting
place at the time of the processions of the parish of Frizet
at the XIXème century.
